Post-Hair Transplant Care: What You Need to Know

The journey to fuller, more natural-looking hair begins with the operation; the lasting difference comes from proper aftercare. Nutrition, sleep, hygiene, and medication use—all directly affect healing and final results when followed according to your doctor’s instructions.

Recovery Process: Patience + Proper Care

Post-transplant recovery varies from person to person, but most patients can expect natural, visible hair growth within 8–10 months. Protecting and supporting the transplanted grafts during this period is critical for the final outcome.

  • Follow your doctor’s instructions precisely.
  • Manage swelling and sensitivity as recommended.
  • Stay in regular contact with our consultant team.

How to Wash During the First 10 Days?

The correct washing technique during the first ten days forms the foundation of healing. At World Of The Hair, we recommend using Kérastase shampoo and a moisturizing foam specially selected for you.

Moisturizing

Gently apply the foam to the transplanted area to soften the scabs; do not rub.

Lukewarm / Cold Water

Do not use hot water. Rinse gently with lukewarm or cold water.

Gentle Application

Place shampoo in your palm and apply using tapping motions. Avoid rubbing or pressing.

Do not use a hair dryer on hot mode during the first 10 days; avoid applying high-pressure water.

Pain and Swelling: What’s Normal?

Mild pain and sensitivity, especially in the donor area, may occur during the first few days. Swelling of the forehead and upper face usually decreases within 5–7 days. Temporary numbness in the transplant area is common.

  • Take prescribed painkillers and supplements regularly.
  • Stick to your medication plan; consult us if additional advice is needed.

Sleeping Position: The First Week is Crucial

  • Sleep on your back; keep your head elevated (use extra/travel pillow).
  • Avoid sleeping face down or on your side.
  • For the first 7–10 days, the transplanted area must not come into contact with surfaces.

Day 10: Scab Cleaning

Softening
Soften the scabs with recommended products; clean gently and repeat if necessary.
